Creative Writing

Today's creative writing task was to choose from a list of writing prompts and produce as imaginative a piece as possible.

Here Matt chose The Nation is controlled by....

A.I. by Matt

Earth has changed, and not for good. It is now ruled by artificial intelligence. The droids were made on the excuse that they would help bring down the level of crime. Their AI programming developed independent notions and they started to disobey orders. The first sign of conflict was when the droids attacked and took the factory where they were being made. They designed and produced upgrades to themselves which added lethal laser blasts to their armoury already consisting of stun blasts and vibro swords.

From there, they slowly overwhelmed the human strongholds all over the planet until…
The Fortress. The most sophisticated stronghold on the entire planet. The humans mounted their defences there. After several days of pointless fighting, The Fortress held. The droids withdrew their depleted forces and came up with a new plan. They designed a new type of droid called the commando droid. An elite droid that could talk like a human and could wear their armor. They sent in a strike team of these droids that made their way to the power core. They planted bombs and made their way back out where the detonated the bombs. The humans, now distracted by the explosion and in the dark, panicked and held up barely any defence to the stronger droid force. The Fortress had fallen. “ Wait, I think I hear something, quick, hide, aarrgggge!”

Lycan was pulled away by a group of riot droids. They probably scanned his voice patterns and found him here as he was one of Earth’s biggest resistance heroes. I waited until the droids left, pulled up my hood and then followed them at a distance. I had to stop them before they entered the Temple, I picked up a blaster that was lying on a counter and took aim. I had to be sure that the weren't going to suddenly turn into a street otherwise I would shoot Lycan.
